Gale, part of Cengage Learning, is pleased to offer a $1,000 travel scholarship to attend the 2016 Charleston Conference. The scholarship will be awarded to a librarian who was or is currently working at an academic library. Applicants are asked to write an essay between 1,000 and 1,500 words on the following topic:
According to a Cengage Learning study of 3,000 students, 80% of students said they wish online library resources were easily accessible via their course materials. Only about half of faculty are aware that library services are available through their LMS (Outsell/Against the Grain end user survey). How can librarians make the most out of their investment in library resources, increase collaboration with faculty and improve student outcomes?
Essays, along with a one-page resume should be sent to Beth Ford at email@example.com by September 2nd, 2016 and will be reviewed by a panel consisting of John Mate, VP, Academic Sales, Gale; Harmony Faust, VP Marketing, Gale, and Michael Rodriguez, Electronic Resource Librarian, University of Connecticut. We will announce the scholarship winner on September 16th, 2016. The scholarship must be used to attend the 2016 Charleston Conference.
By applying for this scholarship I agree that my essay may be used by Gale for purposes such as marketing.
